Scottsdale, AZ — In an effort to provide his patients with the latest advancements in dental technology and the highest quality care, Dr. Jonathan Coombs, a dentist in Scottsdale, recently announced he has added the most recent upgrade to the CEREC® CAD/CAM at his office. He says the CEREC® software updates allow him to improve the efficiency and turnaround of his practice’s procedures and give patients the restorations they need in a fraction of the time. As he continues to integrate the new technology into his practice, Dr. Coombs says he is looking forward to another opportunity to further enhance his patients’ experience with procedures such as porcelain veneers or immediate restoration on dental implants.

Developed by Sirona, a dental technology company, Dr. Coombs says the CEREC® device is used to create custom ceramic or porcelain restorations for his Scottsdale cosmetic dentistry patients, particularly for use in the fabrication of dental crowns, onlays and veneers. He says CEREC® is performed chairside, so personalization and individual attention play a large role in the final outcome. Thanks to the new inLab 4.0 software update, Dr. Coombs says he is able to greatly expedite the process of making abutments for implants, allowing patients to come in for an impression and have their restoration the following day. He says the second update is used to integrate the 3-D tooth scan with a 3-D bone scan, so that the perfect surgical placement can be made and allows for placing dental implants the same day.

“The new CEREC® upgrades are designed to improve patient care, there’s much less hassle for the patient involved in the treatment process now,” says Dr. Coombs. “We’re able to cut down on the time it takes to complete a number of procedures, which ultimately means less office visits and a quicker restoration.”

After a recent training course in the use of the CEREC® updates, Dr. Coombs says he is confident in the technology and excited to see how it helps patients achieve a quicker solution to their needs. He says whether patients are looking for porcelain veneers, dental implants, or other restorative treatments, having access to the latest techniques and technology is an essential part of receiving the highest quality care. However, he urges all patients considering cosmetic dentistry to consult with an experienced and qualified dentist before undergoing any treatment.
